Notes From the Meet - Declare for the next meet
Seastars:
Congratulations on a great meet last night! We won with a score of 283 to 157. Thank you to all the parent volunteers. It really does take everyone to run a swim meet.
Some notes to run through:
Please DO NOT LEAVE the meet early without talking to the coaches first. We almost couldn't run the relays last night because relay swimmers had left. There are strict rules for who can swim and we have to have one kid from each age group for each relay (8 different kids) (9/10, 11/12, 13/14, and 15-18). With so many factors playing into the night, you never know when we might need a swimmer and last night 6 and unders had to swim in the relay to fill in for the missing swimmers. They did a great job, but a 50 is really hard for them.
There were a lot of DQs last night, which is normal for the first meet. Coaches will be working with kids to help reduce that number each week. If you have a question, please do not hesitate to talk with the coaches regarding the infraction. Board members can help you as well (or can direct you do someone who can if they do not know the answer).
As always, if you have questions regarding the meet please ask! Our next meet will be on Monday, 6/28 at Villages of Westminster. We are working on making contact with this team, but for now expect to travel to their pool for the meet. Warm ups begin at 5:30pm and the meet will begin at 6pm. This weekend you will receive an e-mail with information regarding the upcoming meet. In the meantime, it is time to declare your swimmer and choose your job to help run the meet. Please declare your swimmer by Wed. afternoon so the coaches can begin filling the meet on Thursday.
